The solar flare theory is in trouble at my house: http://www.techlib.com/solarflare.htm . We just had a M 6.6 flare and the data simply shows no effect, certainly nothing on the order described. There are all sorts of reasons my experiment might be invalid, but my results don't require a reprint of all the physics books, so I'm officially a "flare denier."
